Thansgiving…Myeong Dong style

It’s a bit hard to have a strong parish life here in Korea, especially for the expat community. Different work hours, different work weeks, work restrictions, varying waking hours, etc. At my parish, there’s this one woman, bless her, who tries to organize things to encourage community, like having a Thanksgiving lunch in early November so that neither the Canadians nor the Americans feel slightly. Although that back-fired this year because several people complained about Thanksgiving being celebrated and not another culture’s celebration.

Regardless we had Thanksgiving last Sunday and it was fun to sit and talk over turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. But I can’t really wait until Thanksgiving 2010, when I can have the real thing.
