Remember when Glo and I went to the C’etait Bien? Here’s the letter we drafted as our invite to the Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party:
After partaking in a lovely Indian dinner near Gangnam Station, we happened upon an adorable European tea house, aptly named “C’etait Bien.” Inspired by the enchanting atmosphere, we concluded that we must simply enjoy the addition of your company on our next tea social.
We cordially extend to you an initiation to our first Semi-Annual “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party.”
Needless to say, there will be an enforced dress code to ensure that all propriety in matching the decor is observed.
Ladies, we politely, but firmly, insist that you wear attire that is befitting of your lady-like femininity. Please, pretty please, wear white, cream, off-white, eggshell, ivory, porcelain, pink, baby blue, pastel blue, or black. However, should you choose to don the color black, please add a touch of white; we are attending a “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party,” not a “Gloomy Gloomy Princess Evening Funeral.” We encourage you to wear a matching hair piece or hat. If you are in possession of a parasol or matching fan, please do not hesitate to make use of it while traversing to our “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party.”
Gentlemen, we politely, but firmly, insist that you wear a suit, more specifically a white suit. This suit would best become you if accompanied with a white hat, perhaps a top hat or fedora. Please bring a cane if one if available to you. Bow ties are encouraged.
Gloves for all guests are optional, but strongly preferred.
If you do make the dire decision to breach our request for civility, you may be asked to sit at the kiddie table along with other miscreants. Or you may wait outdoors to search for your own company. Needless to say, you will be under threat of being ousted from our “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party.”
Please R.S.V.P. to the “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party” in a timely manner. We hope for you enchanting company at C’etait Bien, outside of Gangnam Station, Exit 7, at 3:00 in the afternoon on the auspicious Thursday of the 13th of August, the year 2009 Anno Domini. All guests are free to plan other activities and festivities to enjoy after the “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party.”
If you, by chance, are aware of any other individuals who’s company may be benefiting of our “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party,” wait not on extending this initiation to said persons.
Your sisters in station,
Lady Gloria of the city of brotherly love Philadelphia
Princess Karen of the Independent Republic of Texas
P.S. If any lovely friend can remember the delicate contortions of your expressions that happened across your face, please do kindly be prepared to reenact them for us at our First Semi-Annual “Pretty Pretty Princess Afternoon Tea Party.”
It was a small turnout, four people total, but there were some good laughs. And yes, the blue mallow tea, is really blue. Eventually I’ll add pictures of us from the day, but for now these will have to do:
