It was sad today, one of the women that I share my office with, Oh Eun Mi, one of the music teachers at my school, is taking leave for the rest of the year. She has two young daughters and a third baby on the way. She wants to take some time before the third child comes to spend with her daughters, so that they’re well adjusted to a younger sibling. She thinks that she’s having a boy – in Korea, it’s illegal to tell an expecting couple the sex of their unborn child, mostly because in the past, many couples had aborted their unborn female children so that they could try to have a son as their first born, etc. She doesn’t want her girls to feel that they are unloved if their new sibling is a boy. And she would like to work on her daughter’s English a little bit.
